Furnished Housing Near LA's Major Hospitals: The Complete Guide

February 2026 • 14 min read • Updated for 2026

Nobody moves to LA for a 13-week nursing contract and thinks, "You know what sounds fun? Apartment hunting in the most expensive rental market in the country." And yet here you are, scrolling Zillow at midnight, dodging 12-month leases and unfurnished boxes that want a $5,000 deposit.

What you actually need is pretty simple: a furnished place, close to your hospital, with a lease that matches your contract. No furniture shopping. No utility setup. No commitment that outlasts your assignment.

We've been housing medical professionals across Los Angeles since 2013. Travel nurses, residents, fellows, patients, families, the whole spectrum. This guide maps every major LA hospital to the best nearby neighborhoods for furnished apartments. Bookmark it. You'll probably come back to it.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

8700 Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90048

The big one. Over 900 beds, 16,000+ employees, and consistently ranked among the top hospitals in the country. Cedars sits right where Beverly Grove meets West Hollywood, one of the most walkable pockets of LA. That's saying something for a city that was basically designed around cars.

Demand for nearby furnished housing is year-round. Travel nurses, visiting specialists, patients, researchers. There's always someone looking for a place near Cedars.

Best Neighborhood West Hollywood
Distance 0.5–1.5 miles
Also Consider Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills
Commute 5–10 min drive
Browse West Hollywood Apartments →

Our West Hollywood apartments are the closest thing to having it all near Cedars. Walkable grocery stores, coffee shops on every corner, and its own police department keeping things safe and clean. WeHo is where most of our Cedars-Sinai nurses end up, and they rarely complain.

Prefer something quieter? Miracle Mile sits directly south along Wilshire Boulevard. More residential, less nightlife, still close. It's the "I just want to sleep" choice. We respect that.

Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center

Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles

4867 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90027

Kaiser's flagship LA facility lives on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, near Vermont Avenue. It's one of their largest medical centers in SoCal and there's a steady stream of travel nurse positions open pretty much all the time. The location is actually ideal for housing because you've got options in both directions: Hollywood's commercial core to the west, and the more residential neighborhoods of Los Feliz and Silverlake to the east.

Best Neighborhood Hollywood
Distance 0.5–2 miles
Also Consider Silverlake, Los Feliz
Commute 5–10 min drive
Browse Hollywood Apartments →

Our Hollywood apartments are your best bet near Kaiser. And Hollywood has gotten genuinely better in recent years. New restaurants, better transit, way more livable than the tourist-trap reputation suggests. You'll be surprised.

Want something mellower? Silverlake is 2-3 miles east with tree-lined streets, incredible coffee shops, and that "creative LA neighborhood" vibe you've probably seen on Instagram. Commute to Kaiser is a quick 10 minutes, usually against traffic.

🏥 Kaiser Travel Nurse Tip

Here's something most newcomers don't know: Kaiser LA is right on the Metro Red Line (Vermont/Sunset station). If you pick an apartment near any Metro station in Hollywood, you can skip driving entirely. A car-free commute in Los Angeles. Wild, right? But it works.

UCLA Medical Center

UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center

757 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90095

Consistently top 5 in the country. UCLA Medical Center sits right on the campus in Westwood, just south of Sunset Boulevard. The village around it is walkable in a way that feels almost European by LA standards. Restaurants, bookstores, movie theaters, all on foot. Academic medical centers tend to create their own little ecosystems, and UCLA is the best example of that.

Best Neighborhood Westwood
Distance 0.5–1.5 miles
Also Consider Santa Monica, Brentwood
Commute 5–10 min drive
Browse Westwood Apartments →

Westwood Village is the obvious play here. It's compact, walkable, and a lot of medical professionals don't even bother with a car for their daily routine. That alone is worth the rent premium over neighboring areas.

If you want ocean air, Santa Monica is 15-20 minutes west via Wilshire. Beach access after your shift, one of the most walkable cities in California, and a broader selection of apartments. A lot of UCLA nurses and residents make that trade-off and don't look back.

Keck Medicine of USC

Keck Hospital of USC

1500 San Pablo Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033

USC's medical powerhouse. Level 1 Trauma Center, transplant leader, cancer research hub, all affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine. The campus is in Boyle Heights, east of Downtown. The surrounding area isn't exactly packed with furnished apartment options, which is why most people look to DTLA instead.

Best Neighborhood Downtown LA
Distance 2–4 miles
Also Consider Silverlake, Arts District
Commute 10–15 min drive
Browse Downtown LA Apartments →

Most Keck professionals live in Downtown LA. Better apartments, better lifestyle, and a 10-15 minute commute that's usually against the prevailing traffic flow. The DTLA Arts District is particularly popular with younger residents and fellows. Great food scene, and it's the closest part of Downtown to the Keck campus.

Silverlake works too. About 10-15 minutes north, quieter, more neighborhood-y. Good option if DTLA's energy isn't your thing.

Providence Saint John's Health Center

Providence Saint John's Health Center

2121 Santa Monica Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA 90404

Saint John's is Santa Monica's main hospital and a nationally recognized cancer center (home of the John Wayne Cancer Institute). It sits on Santa Monica Boulevard, blocks from the ocean. In terms of quality-of-life-while-working-at-a-hospital, it honestly doesn't get better than this in LA.

Best Neighborhood Santa Monica
Distance 0.5–2 miles
Also Consider Venice Beach, West LA
Commute 5–10 min drive
Browse Santa Monica Apartments →

Living in Santa Monica while working at Saint John's is the dream assignment. Walk or bike to work. Hit the beach after your shift. Grab dinner on the Third Street Promenade. One of the most walkable spots in SoCal. Your friends back home will be jealous.

Venice Beach is right next door. More bohemian, slightly easier on the wallet, and still under 10 minutes to Saint John's. Solid alternative.

Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center

Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center

1300 N Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90027

434 beds, one of the busiest hospitals in central LA. Located on Vermont Avenue near Sunset, just a few blocks from Kaiser Permanente. If you get an apartment near Hollywood Presbyterian, it works for Kaiser too, and vice versa. Two-for-one housing situation.

Best Neighborhood Hollywood
Distance 0.5–1.5 miles
Also Consider Silverlake, Koreatown
Commute 5–10 min drive
Browse Hollywood Apartments →

Same playbook as Kaiser: Hollywood for proximity and urban convenience, Silverlake for tree-lined calm. Both work. Pick your personality.

Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA)

Children's Hospital Los Angeles

4650 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90027

Top-ranked pediatric hospital in the country, affiliated with USC's Keck School. Located on Sunset in Hollywood, it draws traveling nurses, fellows, and specialists from everywhere. It also draws families. Parents traveling to LA for their child's treatment need housing that feels like a home, not a hotel. That's a different kind of need and we take it seriously.

Best Neighborhood Silverlake / Hollywood
Distance 1–3 miles
Also Consider Los Feliz, Studio City
Commute 5–15 min drive
Browse Silverlake Apartments →

Silverlake is perfect for CHLA families and staff. It's genuinely family-friendly, with great parks (the reservoir is beautiful for walks), independent restaurants, and a warm neighborhood feel. When you're going through something hard, that kind of environment makes a real difference.

What Every Medical Professional Needs in LA Housing

We've housed hundreds of healthcare workers. Patterns emerge. Here's what actually matters when you're picking a place near your hospital.

Month-to-Month Flexibility

Your 13-week contract could become 26 weeks by Tuesday. Or get canceled by Friday. Residency rotations have firm dates. Treatment plans evolve. You need a lease that bends with your life. Every Furnished.LA apartment is month-to-month. No exceptions, no asterisks.

Truly Move-In Ready

You're starting work in days. Furniture shopping is not happening. Our apartments come fully loaded: furniture, linens, cookware, Wi-Fi, all utilities. Literally show up with a suitcase. That's the whole pitch and it works because we've had 13 years to get it right.

Quiet Enough for Night Shift

Sleeping at 2pm in Los Angeles is an underrated challenge. We pick buildings with solid sound insulation. We provide blackout-capable window treatments. And we steer night-shift nurses away from apartments on entertainment strips. Because a great apartment is worthless if you're staring at the ceiling at noon.

Safe, Full Stop

Especially for nurses new to LA, working nights, often living alone. Every one of our apartments is in a well-established, well-lit neighborhood. This isn't something we compromise on. Ever.

Questions We Hear All the Time

Do you work with travel nurse staffing agencies?

Yep. We coordinate with the major agencies regularly and provide whatever housing documentation they need. Most stipends align well with our rates.

Can I get a one-bedroom or two-bedroom?

Studios, one-beds, two-beds. We've got them all near every major hospital. One-bedrooms are the most popular for solo travel nurses. Two-bedrooms work for nurse pairs splitting costs or families supporting a patient.

How fast can I move in?

Usually 24-48 hours. If you know your start date in advance, reach out 2-3 weeks early for the best options. But if you're in a "I need something by Monday" situation, we've done that more times than we can count. Call us.

Are pets allowed?

Many of our apartments are pet-friendly. Travel nurses and their dogs are a package deal more often than not. Just let us know.
